What a beautiful neighborhood nursery. Since I am not a full time resident yet, I haven’t bought any plants, but I will once I move to PV. They had such a variety of poinsettias before Christmas last year that you don’t find in the states. Update: I finally live in Puerto Vallarta, and have started landscaping my once barren yard. Viveros Shalom has everything I need in the way of plants. Their staff is excellent and helpful, and the prices are very reasonable. This nursery is a must see. Now my yard is becoming one to be proud of.
I picked out several plants to purchase. I had my son pay for our plants as I was helping out a couple looking to find the right size pot for a palm. I looked over the receipt. I noticed I was charged $20 US dollars for several plants and 50 pesos for other small plants. I questioned the daughter of the owner who had been assisting us. I specifically asked "is this the price of the plant for everyone?" Holding up a plant they charged 380pesos for. She was embarrassed and admitted, no. I then asked was it because your mother thought she could get away with it? She answered "yes." Then added "but you used a credit card and they are exotic plants," trying to justify. If you shop here know they will gouge you if they see an opportunity. I paid triple for plants only compared to the previous week I purchased 4 beautiful pots and plants from the nursery down the street for 1/3 the total price.
The variety of plants is endless and all looking top notch; the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly.
